Brendan Clarke-Smith welcomes Pension Credit Week of Action from 12-16 of June 2023 to encourage pensioners to receive Pension Credit. During this week, the Department of Work and Pensions encourages pensioners to check if they are eligible for Pension Credit.
About 1.4 million pensioners in Britain receive Pension Credits yet need to claim extra financial support. As of November 2022, Bassetlaw consists of 2,381 households that are receiving Pension Credits. It is essential to inform Bassetlaw of this matter, as supporting pensioners is vital to a thriving community.
In order to reach out to more pensioners, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will launch its summer initiative “Invitation to Claim,” which will encourage households who receive Housing Benefits across Britain to apply for Pension Credit.
Pension Credit is, on average per year worth more than £3,500. This is designed to help those over the State Pension age and on a lower income, although there is no need to be on a State Pension to receive it.
