Brendan Clarke-Smith MP has signed a joint letter to the Chancellor Sajid Javid on the taxation of e-publications.
The letter, which was signed by 18 other MPs, calls for the 20% rate on all digital publications, such as e-books and audiobooks, to be scrapped in the upcoming Budget. It comes as the 'Axe the Reading Tax' campaign lobbied the Government, arguing that the tax distinction between physical and digital books is 'artificial' and 'illogical.'
Brendan said:
'E-publications are not just a luxury for gadget lovers and commuters, they are also a necessity for those with sight problems and those with learning difficulties.'
