Today, A local Bassetlaw company Universal Coatings UK joined Brendan Clarke-Smith MP in parliament to visit the restoration they completed in 2022 of the magnificent Elizabeth clock tower, more commonly known as ‘Big Ben.’
Founded by Phillip Bingham in 2007, Universal Coatings UK is a Bassetlaw family business that has successfully carved out a niche for itself in delivering complex restoration projects on iconic structures across the United Kingdom. Currently undertaking works as part of the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh.
Universal Coatings UK directors Philip Bingham & Matthew Curtis said:
“We were delighted to show Bassetlaw MP Brendan Clarke-Smith around the business’s headquarters & workshops at Misterton in Bassetlaw in January of this year and were please today to meet Brendan again in his natural environment and to show him some of the work we completed in the restoration of Big Ben.”
Brendan Clarke-Smith MP shared his delight at the restoration by stating:
“It’s great to see the famous clock face on the Elizabeth Tower restored to its former glory and even more special to see a local company in Bassetlaw carrying out the works. I want to say a huge thank you to Universal Coatings for the fantastic job they’ve done and for giving us something else Bassetlaw can be proud of!”
