Illegal Migration Bill (Second Reading) - last night I spoke on this Bill, which passed by 312 votes to 250, despite Opposition attempts to scupper it.
This Bill isn’t just the fair thing to do, with tens of thousands illegally entering the country, and putting public services under strain, but it is also the humane thing to do. This is because it is clogging up the system for genuine refugees and because people are dying the Channel due to the actions of people smugglers.
Labour, the Lib Dems and the SNP (Scotland takes hardly any illegal migrants) want open borders, blanket approvals for those cheating our system.
Anybody who criticised them yesterday was labelled as ‘fascist’ or ‘far right’. Presumably that’s also their attitude towards our constituents, who have been asking for these measures.
