Last week I joined the Joanna Simpson Foundation along with Carrie Johnson, Priti Patel MP, Robert Buckland MP and Jess Phillips MP as part of their campaign to keep Joanna’s killer behind bars. Joanna was brutally murdered 12 years ago by her husband, Robert Brown, who is due to be released early from prison.
We are therefore urging Justice Secretary Dominic Raab to use new powers available to him to send high risk prisoners to a parole review, instead of being automatically released.
Between March 2021 and March 2022, 123 women were killed by men or had a man as the prime suspect in their death.
