Lee Rowley MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Business and Industry visited Retford Town Centre on Friday 20th May.
Lee Rowley visited local businesses in Retford and discussed how the government can help small independent businesses local businesses owners and Brendan Clarke-Smith MP.
Brendan Clarke-Smith MP said: “I was pleased to have the opportunity to show Lee Rowley, a member of the government who focuses on businesses, Retford Town Centre. As a Retford resident myself, who uses the town centre every week, I know that Retford has some fantastic independent local businesses and charities who support the town centre and want to see it thrive. It was fantastic to hear Lee Rowley re-affirm the government’s commitment to supporting town centres like Retford.”
District and County Councillor, Mike Quigley, also accompanied Lee Rowley MP and Brendan Clarke-Smith MP on a visit to the Bassetlaw Hospice Shop in Retford Town Centre. They had discussions on how the charity operates, the care they provide, how the charity is managing. They also discussed the challenges Retford Town Centre has faced.
Cllr Mike Quigley commented: “As the Chairman of trustees at Bassetlaw Hospice, it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to show Lee Rowley MP the Hospice shop, introduce him to the team of volunteers and show him the new system we have put in place to claim gift aid back from donations.”
Local resident, John Manners, also met with Lee Rowley MP and Brendan Clarke-Smith MP in the town centre. John showed them key local businesses in Retford, and had discussions how important it was for government to support our local businesses that support Retford Town Centre.
John Manners said: “It was fantastic to meet with Lee and Brendan last week. I am glad Lee Rowley was able to see our fantastic town centre and was glad to hear that the government are backing our small businesses.”
