Our Plan for Our NHS
NEW £17m ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY VILLAGE
At the last election, we promised and you voted for us to protect our NHS and support Bassetlaw Hospital.
Since I became your local MP, plans have been confirmed for a new £17m expansion, which is set to be completed in mid-2024. I continue to lobby for increased investment into our local hospital. This is in addition to a new MRI unit and CT scanner that was installed last year.
OVERNIGHT CHILDREN'S CARE TO RETURN TO WORKSOP
Thanks to our £17m investment into Bassetlaw Hospital, we will soon see a planned return of overnight care at Bassetlaw Hospital for children.
As part of the £17m expansion, plans are in place for overnight beds, new assessment spaces, and treatment rooms. This means that children wil be able to stay overnight locally, making life easier for both parents and children.
BACKING THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING HUB PLAN
I welcome the proposed Health and Wellbeing Hub next to Newgate Medical Centre.
On the doorstep, residents are clear they have concerns about GP and healthcare access. We will back Bassetlaw District Council and the Commissioning Group's bid for investment from the NHS for a new Health and Wellbeing Hub.
NEW DEFIBRILLATOR SITES ACROSS BASSETLAW
Residents are clear that Bassetlaw needs more defibrillator sites.
Working with residents and charities, we've been helping secure sites for new defibrillators, such as at Ranby House School and the Sutton cum Lound village hall, which was kindly donated by the Muslim Charity based in Eaton, near Retford.
GOVERNMENT FUNDS NEW SKILLS HUB TO TRAIN NHS STAFF
Following our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, we managed to secure £3.5m from the Government's Getting Building Fund for The Bridge Skills Hub in Worksop.
Plans for the Hub involve supporting the training of young people to get into healthcare professions and to gain qualifications to support our NHS and care sector.
TACKLING THE COVID-19 BACKLOG IN BASSETLAW
The NHS backlog is a huge concern to us all.
That is why over the next three years we are investing an additional £8bn into elective recovery and almost £6bn extra in capital investments.
One such example is Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals Trust operating a cardio drive-through service as part of the 'Hospital at Home' programme.
