Today we announced a new Innovation Strategy, setting out our plans to cement the UK's position as a world-leader in science, research and innovation as we build back better.
- The UK has a proud history of changing the world through innovation – from the industrial revolution to the vaccine development over the past year – but we have not always turned our genius for innovation into jobs and companies here in Britain.
- That is why we have announced a new Innovation Strategy - a long-term plan to boost private sector investment in Research and Development across the whole of the UK, creating the right conditions for all businesses to innovate, including with a record £22 billion increase of public investment on R&D and 'innovation missions' to set clear direction, urgency and pace on the issues confronting the UK.
- This strategy will help to support and create jobs and make sure British firms are leading the world in the global innovation race as we build back better.
